Abstract
Cushing’s disease(CD) is well known as a cause of secondary hypertension. Decompensated congestive heart failure(CHF) is provoked in some patients with CD. As compared with “simple” hypertensive heart disease, in patients with CHF related to CD, myocardial fibrosis is aggravated during short term. Myocardial fibrosis leads to low left ventricular function. Although glucocorticoid has been supposed to play a vital role in myocardial fibrosis, the detailed mechanism is still unknown. Previous studies showed that the left ventricular function is improved in the early phase after surgical treatment for CD. We have experienced a case who suffered CHF related to CD. The optimal treatment for CD resulted in remarkable improvement of left ventricular function. We report a case of CHF related to CD with some considerations.
