Abstract
Background:This study is a descriptive research study to confirm the knowledge and risk perception of COVID‒19 infections, attitudes towards vaccines, and related factors affecting the intention of COVID‒19 vaccination among South Korean University students. Method:Online questionnaires were produced on a Korean‒based university network elected through the convenience sampling method and distributed to college students through a snowball sampling methodology. The 312 participants who agreed to participate in this study was used for the final analysis. Result:Factors influencing the acceptability of COVID‒19 vaccinations were statistically significant outcome variables such as“general knowledge of COVID‒19”,“ risk perception of COVID‒19”, and“attitude towards COVID‒19 vaccines”. The group with high general knowledge of COVID‒19(p=0.001), the group with low risk perception of COVID‒19(p=0.007), and the group with a good attitude towards COVID‒19 vaccine(p <0.001)had high vaccination intentions. Conclusion:Therefore, in order to improve the vaccination rate of the COVID‒19 vaccine, efforts should be made to improve the general knowledge level of vaccination, such as reducing anxiety by providing accurate information on the stability and efficacy of vaccination, and to strengthen trust in the medical system.
