特定保健用食品「黒烏龍茶 OTPP」の継続摂取による内臓脂肪低減効果の検証

Abstract
[Objective “KURO−Oolong tea OTPP”is a FOSHU(Food for specified health uses)tea, which inhibits fat absorption, to lower postprandial triglyceride level when taken with meal. To elucidate potential of“KURO−Oolong tea OTPP”to reduce risk for metabolic syndrome, we have conducted an intervention study taking one bottle of the FOSHU tea a day for 12 weeks. Methods We performed a randomized double−blind, placebo−contorolled trial. The subjects (132 men and 126 women)aged from 20 to 65 years old with 23≦body mass index(BMI)< 30 kg/m2 were randomly divided into two groups;“KURO−Oolong tea OTPP”(OTPP 70 mg/350 mL)group, and placebo(OTPP 6 mg/350 mL)group. Each subject took one bottle with a meal per day for 12 weeks. Results Significant reduction of visceral fat area and waist size were obserbed in“KUROOolong tea OTPP”group compared with those of the placebo group after 12 weeks. No adverse effects were observed in both groups. Conclusions The results of this study indicated that“KURO−Oolong tea OTPP”could be effective for prevention or amelioration of metabolic syndrome.
