Abstract
Objectives We evaluate efficacy of a molecularly targeted hair growth tonic containing functional components for hair growth and effectively inhibits the advance of androgenic alopecia (AGA)among Japanese male adult subjects. Methods Eleven subjects aged between 27 and 58 years have a feeling of sparse hair and judged to be at high or middle AGA risk, were provided a molecularly targeted hair growth tonic twice-daily for six month. We investigated the effect for average hair diameter and rate of total terminal hairs with over 40μm in diameter by using videomicroscope and photographies taken on the parietal scalp region every month. Results The result of this study provided evidence that improvement due to this molecularly targeted hair growth tonic was observed for the average hair diameter and rate of total terminal hairs with over 40μm after two months. It was found that bald areas are decreased within six months by photograph. According to the answer of the questionnaire for assessment of hair and scalp condition, some subjects realized the improvements of hair thickness and fallen hair as compared with before use. Conclusions It was concluded that this molecularly targeted hair growth tonic activates the growth factors and inhibits the factors relating hair loss in hair cycle by the molecularly targeted manner.
