Abstract
We evaluated the effects of Moringa oleifera Lamarck(moringa)leaf powder on defecation in healthy adult women with mild constipation. This randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover comparative study included volunteers, who were randomized into the moringa leaf powder capsule group(1.38 g of moringa leaf powder administered daily for 2 weeks) and placebo capsule group. In the evaluation of bowel habits, defecation frequency significantly increased during the ingestion period of moringa leaf powder compared with that during the placebo ingestion period. In addition, stool volume tended to increase during the moringa leaf powder ingestion period compared with the placebo ingestion period. These results suggest that moringa leaf powder intake might improve defecation in healthy adult women with mild constipation (.UMIN000024674)
