Abstract
緩和医療・ケアの分野において外科医のはたす役割は大きい．外科と緩和医療・ケアには共通点が多く存在する．外科医の適性は緩和医療・ケアに通じるものがあり，特にチーム医療には好都合である．コミュニケーション能力は癌終末期患者・家族にとって重要であるばかりでなく，チーム医療を機能させるうえでも大切である．「和」を重んずる本邦の精神文化はチーム医療推進に適っている．
