頻回再発型あるいはステロイド依存性を示す小児期発症の難治性ネフローゼ症候群に対し，2014年8月29日にリツキシマブの適応追加が承認された。第45回日本腎臓学会東部学術大会では薬事承認のための医師主導治験に参画した伊藤秀一先生から，承認に至る過程およびリツキシマブの投与法や注意点などが語られた。
