Abstract
We evaluated effects of empagliflozin administration for 12 months in forty three Japenese out‒patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Empagliflozin(EMPA;10 mg/day) administration significantly improved renal function in the patients with estimated glomerular filtration rate corrected by HbA1c(eGFRc)below 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 and 60 to 90 mL/min/1.73 m2 at 12 months. On the other hand, EMPA significantly decreased eGFRc, and might improve hyperfiltration in the patients with eGFRc over 90 mL/min/1.73 m2. It is suggested that EMPA administration for 12 months totally tended to normalize altered renal function by hyperglycemia in the patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
