高脂血症は，動脈硬化性疾患，特に冠動脈疾患と脳血管障害の重要な危険因子となる．このため，予防医学の見地より高脂血症以外の危険因子を勘案しながらの高脂血症治療が重要である．また，画一的な薬物療法に頼ることなく，患者個々のライフスタイル改善や，それと併行したおのおのの薬剤特性に留意した治療が望まれる．
