Abstract
炭疽（anthrax）は，炭疽菌（Bacillus anthracis）による人畜共通感染症である．主にウシ，ヒツジなど家畜の疾患であるとともに，感染動物あるいはその製品物を扱う従事者に認められる疾患である．炭疽菌はR. Koch により1876 年に初めて純培養され，1881 年L. Pasteur により家畜の炭疽予防用弱毒生菌ワクチンが開発された細菌学史上特筆すべき細菌でもある．芽胞を吸入することにより，致死率が高い肺炭疽を引き起すことから生物兵器の病原体としても注目されている．
