病的肥満の治療法で減量目的に施行されるbariatric surgery による耐糖能異常の改善には，減量による二次的効果のほかに，消化管ホルモンであるインクレチン作用の変化が深く関与していることが明らかとなり，肥満や糖尿病に対する治療に大きなインパクトを与えることが予想される．
