The test groupingested daily 1 bottle of test beverage(resistant maltodextrin 5 g/bottle), which is equal toregular amount of recommended daily intake of the beverage, for 12 weeks. On the otherhand, the placebo group ingested the same amount of placebo beverage for the same duration. Results Statistically significant decrease in the body weight, BMI and body fat percentagein the test group and body fat percentage in the placebo group after 12 weeks of feedingwere observed, but these were not thought to be no clinically concerning changes. Changesin the vital sign, blood parameters and urine parameters were not observed during intakeperiod. No adverse event attributed to the test beverage was found in the study. Conclusions Thus, these results indicated the safety of the carbonated beverage containingresistant maltodextrin in healthy adults include the volunteers with mild hypertrigryceridemiain the case of long-term intake.
