Abstract
Objectives The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of gum chewing on scalp blood flow. Methods Twenty healthy subjects participated in a randomized, open, cross-over comparison trial. Blood flow in the subjectʼs scalp was measured during gum chewing. Results Scalp blood flow in the parietal and temporal regions increased significantly during gum chewing compared to the resting state.
