Abstract
Objectives The objective of this study was to investigate the safety of medium chain triglycerides diet on elderly type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods An assigned was conducted in 25 subjects. They were assigned to fasting blood sugar(FBS)a standard 126 mg╱dL by 2 groups. Medium chain triglycerides containing 6 g the test ingested at 8 weeks. The efficacies were evaluated by analyzing safety. Results The subject of during intervention period FBS 126 mg╱dL group below and above group of body weight and FBS no changes. There were 2 groups not yet diagnosed diabetic ketoacidosis. There were the 2 groups in any the TG level, and blood insulin levels, ketone bodies, total ketone bodies and acetoacetate ware not significantly. Conclusions The Medium chain triglycerides intake safety verification of less than 126 ng╱dL groups ware nit the attention points, but 126 mg╱dL more groups is necessary to take them while measuring ketone bodies regularly. The medium chain triglycerides containing diet may intake safety in elderly type 2 diabetes mellitus. (Jpn Pharmacol Ther 2022;50:1629‒38)
