新生児期，特に低出生体重児には，無呼吸発作や腹部膨満などの症状が日常的に観察されるため，これらを前駆症状の病的なサインとしてとらえにくく，気づいたときには重篤な状態に陥っていることがある．そこで，最近の経験から，見逃しやすいサイン，あるいは判断に迷ったサインを10事例挙げて解説する．
